PRICE OF PETROL
CONSIDERED TOO HIGH
_ Firmly convinced that New Zealand is paying too much for petrol, Mr. E.P. Hoaly, M.P. .for, Wairau, who returned yesterday from a visit to Canada and the United States, states that he intends to raise the matter during tho forthcoming session" of Parliament. , i ■..■■'■":./■••'
He said that he had found that in Canada the price of petrol was 18' cents per gallon, plus six cents tax, and in the United States it varied from ten to eighteen cents, plus a tax of four cents. "I have official, information," he said, "that one company, which is partly British-owned, has accepted a contract to 'supply Japan with petrol at two cents per gallon. It is obvious that New Zealand is paying too high a price for petrol, and it is time that the Government took action,'*
