DANNEVIRKE'S POSITION
A; decision "thafa lettef'besent to the Minister of Internal Affairs (the Hon. A. Hamilton), setting -\ out the difficult nnancial; position in' which the club was situated, and requesting-,that the position of the club be i-eviewed. along with that of others with -a view .to according it Some relief, was made at' the annual meeting of the Dannevirke Racing Club last Thursday. Only: twenty members— the■' smallest attendance for'years—were present. The president (Mr. F. Armstrong), presided. Mr. R. E. Bunny reported that he and Mr. W. G. F. Frame had'waited upon the Minister when he was in Dannevirke recently with, reference to the position oftheVeluh. The Minister gave them a sympathetic hearing: and. fully realised that the country; clubs in New, Zealand were up against -it.at .the present, time. The rules qf the club were amended to provide''that members': annual subscription be reduced, from £1:10s to £1 Is.
