LEAGUE. OF MOTHEES
NEW BRANCH AT PETONE
For some time past Petone women have -wished to have a branch of the League of Mothers in their district. In response to this general feeling a meeting was' held this week at the Orange Lodge Hall. That it was a -welcome idea was certain, as the room was crowded^with eager prospective members of the branch. Mrs. 11. W. Kersley (hon. organising secretary) made the arrangements, and the chair was taken by Mrs. White (provincial president). Mrs. J. S. Elliott (Dominion president)' was associated with her. The aims and objects of the league were explained, and Mrs. Elliott asked for a wholehearted support of the movement, which is bound to become a vital interest in the lives of members. Over seventy of those present gave in their names to be received into membership after attendance at the next two meotings, this being a rule of the league. A provisional committee was formed to elect officers, and to set the loague going thoroughly in the district. During the afternoon acceptable items were given by Mesdames Schmidt and Lowe, and afternoon tea, which was also much enjoyed, was handed round by members of the Lower Hutt branch of the league. The branch promises to be a particularly good one, and all residents are asked to look out for further notices of: meetings.
