ENTERTAINED AT LUNCH

*(Eeceived 30th .July, 2 p^m.) ' . OTTAWA, 29th July. The National Council of Women gay« a luncheon to the women accompanying the oversea^ delegates to the Imperial Economic Conference. Mrs. Stanley Baldwin, speaking first in French and then in English, regretted that maternal mortality was increasing in England, though infant mortality was "slightly > 'lessened.' , " Mrs.' J. G. Coates described New Zealand's welfare work, on behalf o£. women and children, and pointed out that New Zealand formerly had the world's highest maternal death , rats •and it was ,now the lowest.
