A New Zealander, Flying-Officer. Peter _ Pharazyn, was killed when a i Wapiti day-bomber crashed near Can* terbury. B..Bamsay, an aviator, giv \ ling evidence at the inquest, said that I while he and his wife and daughter I "were dining they saw an aeroplane de-' sceiiding1. They heard the crash and 1 saw the tail of the machine disappearing, in the branches of a tree. They rushed to the aeroplane, ,which was 1 biirnjng fiercely. He expressed the , opinion that 'Flying-Officer Pharazyu 1 encountered a sharp bump over the tree. I A doctor who gave evidence said that , death was duo, to head injuries before incineratibn.
Flying-Officer Warrington, ■in evidence, said that Phnrazyn was an experi*,. <encer flyer and was unlikely to take unnecessary risks. His machine was probably struck^ by a down-draught and" I brought too -low to clear the tree.
A verdict of accidental death wu given by the Coroner.
