Mr. C. J. Gooae, Chief Transport Commissioner, this afternoon tendered Ms resignation * in. writing to the Minister of Transport, Mr. M.JBruxner. The Jettcr of resignation containod tho following passage: "I feel that the terms of tho Itoyal Commissioner's report leave wo no alternative but to resign my ojliee." Mr. Bruxner comments that tho report completely vindicates tho present Government. The former Chief Railway Commissioner,, Mr. W. J. Cleary, whom Mr. J. T. Lang rotired, will be reinstated in his original position, also Mr. 8. Maddockß, chairman of the Metropolitan Transport Trust. Amending legislation will be passed for this purpose. Tbe Royal Commission which investigated the conduct of Mr. Charles Joachim ■ Oopdo, Chief Transport Commissioner, while he was employed in the sorvice of the Bailway Commissioners, was ono of a number of Commissions appointed by the Stevens Government whon it took offico~ after Mr. J. T. Lang's dismissal by the Governor of Now, South Wales. , Mr. Goodc occupied the position.'of Bailway 'Goods Superintendent until Ist January, 1930, When he was appointed Chief Traffic Manager. He was regrossed, or reduced- in Btatns, to Southern Area Commissioner, on 15th September, 1930, and was dismissed on 3rd February, 1931. Long inquiries wore mttc by tho Bailway Commission' ers, which resulted in, Mr. Goodo's dismissal. Later ho was appointed Chief Transport Commissioner. • A report was made'on his dismissal -and then still another inquiry was instigated by Mr. Lang, who was then Premier. This time the police made investigations and presented- reports. Mr. John Henry Clark, who conducted the first investigation after the Com* missioners had dismissed Goode, did not recommend a criminal prosecution, the' date of the commission of the alleged offences being beyond the date in which a prosecution could be launched. , (
