A USEFUL CONFERENCE
The most successful conference yet hold by delegates from'the Women's Institutes of Now Zealand closed yosterday; ,In reference sto definite knowledge ab6ut'finance'it was decided that the Dominion executive, in order to know exactly how much > money could be reckoned upon for the yearly expenses, should, at a specified time, ask for the contributions the branches, the amount not to exceed 6d per member. It was made "clear that in no case was the' money to be' raised by individual subscriptions, but by united efforts or supplied by institute funds. It was Tesolyed' that the annual meetings of the- Dominion federation bo held alternately. in Wellington and ChristchuTch* Resolutions that English'films should be supported ands encouraged wherever possible' were passed, and the hope expressed that foreign films that lowered the standard of morality and good taste -would be eliminated. < Another romit-passed was in connection; with the sending of samples of New Zealand products as I gifts to institutes in-Great Britain, in order to- make the extent and quality of New Zealand goods better known. "Votes of thanks were enthusiastically passed to Miss Spencer for her splendid work-during the past' twelve years;'to Miss '.Agnes Stops,, for her voluntary organising; work in New Zealand; and to the Press and to all who had helped by hospitality and in other ways to make the conference such a thorough success. The ballot for the Dominion executive resulted in the follqwing being elected: Miss Jerome Spencer, Miss, Grant, Mesdames James Bibby Chisnall, Eiggir, Parr, Home, Macdonald, Gibson Young, KobertsOn, Crewe, and Robson.
