CROSSING SMASH
RELIEF WORKER INJURED

An unemployed relief worker named Leslie Francis Payne was seriously injured this morning when a lorry carrying thirty unemployed to,,relie£, worka, collided with on early goods train at th;f Southampton street level crossing. T. T. O'Sullivan was slightly injured. Al\ " the others escaped unhurt. The lorry had almost crossed the line when'the collision took place. The rear of the vehicle was badly shattered. Payne, who is a married man, was taken to the Hastings Memorial Hospital., He was found to be badly injured about 'the liead and suffering from concussion.
