A large audience assembled ia the Pioneer Club Boom recently to celebrate the Fronc_h_Fcto Nationale for 1932, in commemoration of the 143 rd of the French devolution. 1 ' Both Mr. F. F. Miles, in his presidential address, and Monsieur F, M. ißomllet (vice-president) in his speech, .alluded to this far-reaching and important historical event. Byrne gained much applause with two well-known French patriotic songa, "La Parisionne" and "Le: Chant au Depart,'-', accoinpauiod by: Madame Deehanet Mclntosh. Monsieur F. Bouillet gave an entertaininir "causei-ie," "Garcons et Garconnades." Miss Euth Reid contributed two viohn items which were encored, ; aud Madame Dcchanet Mclntosli and Pjofessor .Boyd-Wilson presented an aniusmg sketch in verse, ." Reminiscences, or 25 Years Later" (Bevel) Miss C. Smythson and Misa F. Muter gave a charming costume dance, and Madame de Filippi recited ' Alfred de :Vigny's magniflcent poemj "La Mort dv Loup." Dr. Henning read some of Jean Coctoau 's ultra-modern poetry ! The Belgian t Cdnsul,' Monsieur 'A; Nihotte, who had promised to be present, was unfortunately prevented from .doing so owing to a recent bereavement; His absence was much regretted. ' ■" One of the guests, Madame MacKain, sang "La Brabanconne," and all joined in the singing: of "La Marseillaise," which closed the proceedings. Supper was served.
