Among the honours conferred by the King on his 67th birthday are one viscounty, six baronies, two Privy Councillorships, six. baronetcies, ancl'twcntyeight knighthoods. : ;

The Air Ministry announced on the evo of, the birthday that the Prince of Wales had been appointed Honorary Air Coinmodore-ih-Chief. of' the squadrons comprising the Auxiliaiy Air Force, and that the. Duke of York had' been promoted Air Vice-Marshal in the E.A.F.

The Admiralty announced that the Duke of York had been-promoted RearAdmiral in His' Majesty's Fleet, while a further official announcement stated that' the King had ordered his appointment as Major-General in the Army. The Eoyal Victorian' Chain is bestowed upon'the-Duke of Gloucester.

Conspicuous among the awards is the Grand Cross of the Order of the British Empire for Lady Baden-Powell in recognition of her work on behalf, of the Girl Guide Movement.

Lord Buckmaster, "who is promoted to. a viscounty, became Solicitor-General in 1913. Two years later'he was appointed Lord Chancellor (1915-16).' In addition to his services in the Eoyal Household, the now knight has greatly assisted the National Federation of Working Boys' Clubs, and the National Playing Fields movement.
