A fellowship for the purpose of travel abroad has been granted by the Carnegie Corporation of New York to Professof P. w. Burbidgo, Professor of Physics at Auckland University Collego, who is to take a. year's leave from Ist November next.'
In announcing the" award, tho president, Sir, George Fowlds, said that it had been made upon the recommendation of the New Zealand University Senate, supported by the council. Considering that only three similar followships had been allotted by the Carnegie Corporation this year to -universities in the British Dominions, the award ivaa of considerable distinction,
