Some of the '• performances have been sensational. In a recent «able message to Australia Arthur Mailey stated that the mighty batting of the Australians at Cowichan (Victoria, 8.C.) resulted in McCabe breaking the leg of a. player's wife. Following a. terrific hit the woman endeavoured to save her child from being hit by tho ball, which, struck her on the leg. . ; ■ ■".. .
Owing to rain, the "Vancouver gate was affected, but the Victoria (Cowichan) gate netted 2500 dollars, far exceeding the 650 dollars guarantee.- ' Following the injury' to the woman, the Australians sent a big boomerang wreath of roses as a gesture of sympathy. This wreath, was originally presented to the. Australians by Mrs. J. J. Harrington, late of Melbourne; The accident has resulted in the cricket authorities insuring spectators for the remaining games. • '
Tho team is v«ry pleased with the board's decision allowing them, to tour California. On the- faster grounds of eastern Canada, they expect to beat the Victoria record of 500 in one hour and thirty minutes. All aro itt excellent health. , :
