■ . LONDON, Ist July. On the Stock Exchange there was intense excitement, with spectacular .-jumps in all British funds and heavy buying. The leading dealers in the Consols market were summoned to the Bank of England to confer regarding the basis for dealings. Immediately they returned active business was resumed in 2} Consols at: an advance of 3 3-8 points above yesterday's closing. Four^ per cent, consols advanced 7 3-8, H p.c. Conversion ,4J; Funding Loan 2 3-8. Many leading British industrials also showed sharp rises. Activity continued throughout the day with numerous transactions in all gilt-edgeds, including Australian and New Zealand Stocks. There was somo profit taking but prices were slightly affected.
