THE OWNERS AGREE
WITH PROVISOS
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) - AUCKLAND, This Day. "The president of the New Zealand Coal-mine Owners' Federation, Colonel W. 8. Holgate, in a statement to-day said that the owners were prepared to adopt the suggestion 'of the miners that the men on strike resume work next" Monday under the old terms,- provided it was clearly understood that district conferences were to be, held to negotiate district agreements. A 1 national conference to negotiate a national agreement would not be considered. The position was that the whole strike wa» in the hands of the Miners' Federation of which Mr. MeLagan was secretary. One national conference had been forced on the owners in 1927, but it proved disastrous to the industry, and' was set aside by the Arbitration Court,
