: _Four,members of^ the newly-formea United Front of "Unemployed -and Be-, lief .'Workers' Association waited' as a deputation on the executive of the Property Owners' Association, yesterday afternoon in regard to the i mutual interests of landlords and tenants. ;

It was pointed out by the delegates that it *was.the earnest wish'of the reKef .workers.to pay their rent, but that under existing circumstances it became almost, impossible, with the result that ..several families were being crowded into one house, which,' from a health viewpoint, : should only accommodate one. family.'

The chairman of the Property Owners' Association, Mr. P. Fraser Hodgson, inreply,stated that the experience of the association was that-the majority:>6f -landlords were helping genuine tenants wherever possible,-and in some casesthe.landlord.was in as bad a position as the tenant, if not worse. The landlord was bearing Ms share of the burden of taxation, and also losing large sums of rent, thereby being hit both-ways. In one case the arrears.of rent amounted to over £100. -

" Mr.; Will 'Appleton and Mi. W. Perry, of the"Property Owners' Association, both'considered that the tenaj^fc and the landlord had a great deal in common at the present time, and that something should be done to make their respective positions more secure. : :

- The meeting was adjourned for a week, pending replies from the Government in regard to matters discussed at yesterday's City Council deputation to the Minister of. Employment. • ■ '■*
