VICTORIA CLUB
The- annual report of the committee of the . Victoria Bowling i Club, also to be presented on 29th June, states that on the whole the weather.' treated the club well, and members had an exceptional amount' of play. ' . ■■■■ " Regret is recorded at the deaths ■■":-.'. of Messrs. M. D.Menelaus, F. B; Smedley, and C. H. Barratt, all of whom had taken a full part in the life of. the club during their membership.
During the year the club lost by resignation and death five members, and two were transferred to the supernumerary list. Two new-members were elected, and there are now 96 active, seven supernumerary, and one life members; '' :
• The club's: position' shows a slight improvement on last year. ;All essential, works were attended to, and the cash balance is £118 12s lOd, as against £77 ,14s lid when the committee took office. Play started on 10th October, and finished on 23rd April. The, green was in first-class order, and members have ■ every .reason to be pleased that it stood the test so well. ■ . . ,The prospects for:a good green"next season, are excellent. Minor- renovations: to the club premises were undertaken as they appeared necessary. The premises are in very good trim.- ■■;:. , "■'■■'-
Club results . are' listed, arid thanks are nccorded to Mr. Port, auditor; Mr.'W.E. Jackson, delegate to . the Wellington Centre; Mr. If C. Innes, for writing the club's and the drawings for the several competitions; Mr. G-. P. Middleton
