NEWTOWN BOWLING CLUB
The annual meeting of the Newtown Bowling-Club will be held on 'Wednesday, 29th June, when the report and balance-sheet will come, up for consideration. - The election of officers and the presentation of trophies will also take place. - .
The thirty-ninth annual report remarks that the economic position from which the Dominion is at present suffering has materially 'affected; the. inembcrship. .- At the.end of last year there was a membership of 90, but Bince then 15 had resigned. -Two members had died,.-Mr. F. Huntc and Mr. J. Rigg,' whose deaths were to: be deplored; With five new members, the total was- now 78, of which number three, were life members and four were honorary members. A reduced membership had resulted in a reduced income, which was altogether £.84 less than the income of the previous year. The report suggests that expenditure will, as was the case last year, again have to bo very carefully guarded. •
The report covers the centre and club events; and says that the question of establishing a fund to enable bowling representatives from New Zealand to take part in the British Empire Games and similar events; will be brought up at tho annual meeting of members.r
Mr. J..M. Porter has been nominated as president for the coming year.
