SAILORS' FRIEND SOCIETY.
Good Friday proved a very happy time ior the seafarers who used the rooms in very large numbers at the Sailors' Friend Society. In the atternoon a hot-cross bun tea was Provided by the kindness of wellwishers. At 7.^0 the largest attendance yet seen at a song service was recorded. The helpers during the evening were Mrs. Good (piano) Messrs. Baker, Parry Hooper, and Masters T. McMahon and R. Ross. Parts of thirty-four hymns were sung by the men. Light refreshments sent in by triends were much enjoyed. On Easter Sunday Mr. James Moore, Missioner, spoke in the morning on "Easter." Mr. Or. .Baker took the lessons, and Mrs Mornsby was instrumentalist. Fifty men sat down to tea at 5.45. the host being Mr. W. E. Bock and the hostess Mrs. Williams. At 7 o'clock there was a fine attendance in the church when the missioned preached on "Easter Hope." Mrs. Good was at the organ and Mr J R. Ross was "the soloist. The song service that followed was very much enjoyed. lho.se who assisted were Mrs. Good. Messrs. Batcr. Parry, Hooper, E. Jones, Parsons, D. Ross, J. Hooper, and D .Jones. On Easter Monday games were held and lunch, tea, and supper were served by a band of workers under Mrs. J. Moore s leadership. The prize-winners were Mesdames Williams and Morrisby, and Messrs. Connor, Kane, J. Smithson. Burrows, Hood, Dunn, Hearne, Mather, Billnigton. Rayner, Dennis, Jay, Harrigan, Higham, Berry, Kelling, Moore, Higgins, King, Chapman, Sutherland, S. Connor. The committee and missioner desire to express their deepest thanks for the kindly assistance given by helpers and well-wishers.
