CALCUTTA, 31st January
The situation at Dir, on the Northwest frontier, is such that the Nawab admitted to the Government that he was unable to copo with the menace of raids by Paidda Khol tribesmen, inhabiting valleys bordering the road to Chitral. Military action is being taken to subdue tribesmen, who have been warned to remove iheir women and children from tho villages, which will be bombed by the Air Force.
