CHRISTCHURCH, 30th January. Customs returns for January, compared with January, 1931, were:— 1932. 1931. £ £ Net Customs 58,826 60,097 Beer .Duty 5,374 5^45 Petrol tax 17,675 19,033 Tire Tax 834 3,771 DUNEDIN, 30th January. Customs returns for the month ended to-day amounted to £57,346 13s, as compared with £48,051 11s Id for the corresponding period last year. Beer duty was £21,634 5s 2d, as against £17,677 2s 2d. Motor tire tax totalled £588 5s lOd. as against £2412 6s 2d for the corresponding period of last year. The petrol tax amounted to £12,775 18s, compared with £10,953 3s 6d.
