MOUNT VICTORIA TUNNEL
APPORTIONING THE COSTS
At last night's meeting of the City Council, the City Engineer (Mr. G. A. Hart) reported that, after a conference, the tramways manager and himself had agreed on the following assessment of the works carried out on behalf o£ the Tramways Department:— £ s. d. Heightening of tunnel 4648 19 0 Tramway track foundations and paving 16ft area, which will become the Tramways Department's responsibility . when the tracks are laid .. 5199 1 6 The first work was carried out by the tunnel contractor, and the second by the City Engineer's Department. It was jointly agreed that the cost of heightening the tunnel be an immediate charge on the Tramways Department, and that the'cost of track foundation be payable to the tunnel loan if and when tracks are laid in the tunnel.
The report was adopted with an addition that an adjustment should be made in respect of land, valued at £1200, taken from the Tramways Department at the Hataitai end of the tunnel for roading purposes.
