COUNCIL NOMINATIONS

It is anticipated that shortly after the return of the Postmaster-General, the Hod. Adam Hamilton, to Wellington, about the end of the week, an announcement will be made of the personnel of the Radio Broadcasting Board, -and that immediately afterwards the, members will meet to deal with, the Very important policy questions before the board. A vast amount of work has to be done and the time is very limited, as under the Radio Broadcasting Act passed during the last session of Parliament, the present Radio Broadcasting : Company will go out of existence on 31st December, and tho board will thereafter take control, though, because of tho work and investigation ent/ailed, the valuation of plant and equipment to be taken over- from the company by the board will not bo arrived at for-some time. There will, of course, be no break in the service given by the YA stations to listeners, and such, amendments or extensions of service as the board may decide upon will be introduced gradually.

TO ADVISE THE BOARD.

The Act provides for the setting up of an Advisory Council to assist the board in its work. The council will consist of eight members, five representing the . North Island, three the South Island. Members will not receive an annual payment, but will be paid a fee for attendance at meetings and travelling expenses. It. is understood that a large number of nominations have been sent forward to tho Minister. The nominees of the Wellington branch of the New Zealand Listeners' League are Messrs. J. H. Owen, president of the branch; Byron Brown, H. F. Wood, and Proctor, and Dr. I. . Sutherland. The Auckland nominees were chosen by a ballot at a recent meeting,of the Listeners' League there, and include Messrs. A. B. Chappel, I. Meltzer, T. T. Garland, and H. B. Arthur, and Dr. G. do Clive Lowe. • The .other nominations have been received from provincial centres of both islands.
