CHRISTMAS CHEER FOR CHILDREN

(To the Editor.) Sir, —I again venture to crave the gener« osity of your columns to remind your readers of our desire; to provide Christmas cheer for the children in the Church of England Homes. Of the 900 children in our homes, nearly 200 are in and around Wellington, while between 50 and 60 more are in the All Saints Homes, Palmerston North. These children, through no fault" of their own, have been deprived of home blessings, and naturally look forward to Christmas as other more fortunate children do. Donations to the Christmas' Cheer Fund may be sent direct to any of the homes— viz., St. Mary's, Karori (107- girls); Angli-j can Boys' Home, Lower Hutt (72 boys); Babies' Home, Khandallah (15 babies); All Saints' Homes, Palmerston North (55 children), or to the undersigned.—l am, . C. H. ISAACSON, Secretary, Wellington Diocesan Social Service Board. Box 7, Otaki Railway. "It was reported in 'The Evening Post' that the War Relief Association would give the New Zealand returned soldiers a I day and a half work to married-men and a day to single men" ■ (writes "Square Dink"). lam a married man with two children, and reported at the Labour.Department to-day and was given one day's work." The writer also urges that relief financed from the canteen fund should be reserved for New Zealand ex-soldiers who contributed to that fund.
