Band of Hope Social.
Under the auspices of (he Upper Hutt branch of'the Women's Christian Temperance Union a very pleasant gathering was held in the Cosy Theatre, when the Band of Hope held their closing social, the Rev. Mr. White presiding. There was a large attendance of children and adults, and a splcudid programme was given by members of the Upper Hutt and Hataitai bands. Medals were presented to boys and girls.for good attendance, etc., by the Mayor of Upper Hutt (Mr. A. J. M'Curdy). A vote of thanks was accorded to Mr. M'Curdy for his splendid support of their important work among the young people. Among the local members who contributed items were Jean Denovan, Noleen Edwards, Myrtle Fran?;, Inez Hunt, Barbara Moore, Freda Moore, Corrio Franz, Rene Denovan, Olive Howe, Joan Howan, Howard Dickson, and George Hunt.
