OTAKI SEAT
MR, FIELD'S MEETINGS
Mr. W. H. Field, the Coalition candidate for the 'Otaki seat, has been holding successful meetings throughout the electorate. He spoke'at Manakau on Friday, at Te Horo on Saturday, and at .Otaki last night. At each meeting he has been very cordially thanked for his address, but he has asked his audiences to refrain from passing votes of confidence.
At each meeting Mr. Field has thanked Mr. A. B. Sievwright for honouring the United-Reform pact and retiring from the contest. Mr. Field has also referred to the interest shown by the Labour candidate, Mr. Thorn, in his (Mr. Field's) earlier announcement that he did not intend to contest the seat, and has pointed to the fact that Coalition supporters had selected him by a large majority to be their candidate. Mr. Field has also made reference to the results of the English election, and has pointed to the losson which those results holds for New Zealand.
