INEW ZEALAND BOWLERS
AUSTRALIAN VISIT
The possibility of Australian bowlers I visiting Now Zealand to participate in Ilio Dominion bowling tournamcut, to bo hold in. Christchurch, was mentioned by Mr. A. Ghiyers, -New Brighton, a member oi: tho New Zealand bowling le;im who returned from the championships afr Queensland yesterday. Mr. Chivors said thai; nothing definite was arrived at in regard to Australian bowlers making the trip, iind it was possible that the games which were to be held to commemorate the opening of tlio Sydney Harbour Bridge might affect the possibility of bowlers coming (across. It was also possible that New (Zealand bowlers would be represented at the games, which will probably b& I held about Easter. The tournament was ' being arranged by the New South Wales I Bowling Association. Mr. Chivcrs considered that the performance of the New, Zealand bowlers it Queensland was quite satisfactory. Mr. A. Bobinson (O'nehunga) was see ond in the. singles championship, and in view of the fact that the visitors played on strange greens, their, play wag as good as could be expected. The hos pitality shown by tho Australians. was wonderful.
Speaking about, conditions in Australia generally, Mr. Chivers condemned the dole. Everybody he spoke to ad' mired "the Now Zealand Government's methods of providing relief work. Tha Australian countryside looked well, and the prospects for a good season were bright. Queensland seemed'to be in a much better condition than New South Wales.1 .■"■■■■;
