CLUB OPENINGS
The Petone Catholic Tennis. Club was officially opened; on Saturday in fine weather in the presence of a large number of members -and friends. The opening ceremony was performed: by the patron, the Rev.-: Ftther Quealy, who welcomed the visitors;):ind,'wished the club every success for the coming season; A progressive tournament was held during the. afternoon. The winners were Mr;- 'j. M'Glinchy and Mies. L. Griffen. After-.. noon tea was served by the ladies' committee. In the evening a very successful dance was held, a. large number of visitors being present from other. Catholic clubs.
The opening of the season of the Petone Tennis Club was performed on Saturday afternoon by the president (Mr. W. G. Lodder) in the presence of a large number of members, friends, and visitors from other clubs. During the afternoon an official set was played by Mrs. W. F.Sturman, Miss D. Nieholls, and Messrs. N. R. C. Wilson and W. Hay. Among those present were Mr. W. Nash, M.P.,. and Mrs. Nash. ■ ■ ' : ■ ... : The Mayor of Lower Hutt (Mr. W. T. Strand) performed the opening ceremoney of the tennis section of the Hutt Bowling, Tennis, and Croquet' Club on Saturday afternoon. There was a big attendance, including representatives of many- otheV tennis clubs. Afternoon tea was served on the pavilion by the ladies of the club.-
