CONFERENCE TO BE HELD

Councillor Apple ton writes that on Saturday morning, in -osponso to representations made to him by Iho president of tho Commercial Travellers and Warehousemen's Association, lie got into touch with tho chairman of tho Bylaws Committee, Councillor H. A. Huggins, who had immediately gone fully; into the question, and after con-

suiting the Traffic Department, decided that until tho next meeting of the Bylaws Committee the matter should be left in abeyance. Unfortunately, in some quarters this action was construed as if a special privilege were extended to the commercial travellers. This is not the ease. Until tho matter is further considered by the council no action will bo taken against any motorist who parks in Victoria street. It is understood that the enactment of the bylaw was done at the express desire of business interests in Victoria street. However, the Bylaws Committee is now to meet representatives of tho commercial travellers, tho Chamber of Commerce, and other bodies 'interested, when, no doubt, a satisfactory solution of the difficulty will be arrived at.
