SEAMEN'S UNION CLAIM

ALLEGED VICTIMISATION

SYDNEY, 13th' October

A dispute with the Seamen's Union caused the hold-up of the interstate steamer Canberra, which was scheduled to sail for Melbourne to-day with 150 passengers, many of whom are race visitors; also the prominent racehorses Veilmond, Pentheus, and Carry On, and G-. Price's team. The union claimed that a member of the crew had been victimised.

The crew of the Canberra received notice of dismissal to-night, but a conference is being held in the morning to try to settle the dispute. The majority of the passengers have cancelled the voyage, and have taken a train for Melbourne.
