OBJECTION TO MAGISTRATE

(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) CHRISTCHUBCH, This Day. When charged on remand before Mr. PJ. D. Mosley, S.M., with failing to comply with the terms of his release on probation, Herbert Edwin Barnslcy, organiser of the Unemployed Workers' Movement, repeated his request that the case be heard before another Magistrate. The application was refused, and Barnslcy then applied for a remand until Thursday, so that he might prepare his defence. This was granted, bail being allowed. The Probation Officer said that Barnsley had boon convicted in June, 1930, for failing to account for &1S) 10s received on behalf of a Danncvirke1 farmer. He was then placed oh probation and ordered to make restitution, but, had not done so.
