GANDHI AND THE VICEROY

INVITATION ACCEPTED

(British. Official Wireless.) ETJGBY, 23rd August. After returning to Simla yesterday, from Calcutta, the Viceroy, Lord Willingdon, summoned a meeting of tfc« Executive Council, at which consideration was given to Mr. Gandhi's telegram assuring His Excellency of his desire to prevent a breakdown of tb« Delhi truce, and asking for am interview. It was later announced that Maw Gandhi liad been invited to visit Simla if he felt there were misunderstandings which a personal interview might dear up. A Bombay message says that MrGandhi has accepted the invitation, a»d left Ahmedabad to-night. He trill fm received by the Viceroy on Tuesday.
