HUTT CLUB
The president of the Wellington Rugby Union, I>. ].'. F. M'Kvedy, and tlie chairman of its management committee, Mr. ■!. I'runclevillc, several of the Canterbury representatives, and visitors from other dubs «ctg present at the animal smoke concert of the Unit Rugby Football Club, licld in the gymnasium on Saturday evening. In the absence of the club's president. Sir Alexander Roberts, Mr. J. M. Power presided. Tlie fact that the Hutt Club had come bac-k from the senior B grade into senior A ranks and had won the A grade championship was referred to by several of the speakers, who congratulated tlie club. Tribute was also paid to the leadership of tlie captain, Mr. H. T. Lilburuc, and to the work of the coaches and the club's secretary, Mr. C. W. Budding. Among the toasts were the following: ' Hutt Kugby Football Club," proposed by Mr. Prendeville; "Lower Hutt Borough Council," replied to by the Mayor (Mr. W. T. Strand); "Kindred Sports," Major King, responded to by Mr. Mogridge, Mr. Mark Nieholls, and Mr. Easton; "Senior Fitteen," Mr. Millard, Mr. Lilburne; "President and Vice-president," Mr. J. Burke and Mr. W. Xash, MP.; "Coaches," Mr. C. Dudding and Messrs. Irvine, junior and senior; "Referees," Mr M'Clae.
