FOUND BY DETECTIVES
MEN BEFORE COURT
Charged with breaking and entering the warehouse of the Saracen Shoe Company, Ltd., William- Edward Brown,- a cabinetmaker, aged 27, who was arrest--6d by detectives in Abel Smith street early last Friday morning, was further icmandcd until Wednesday,' Svhon he appeared before Mr. K. Page, 5.M.," at tho Magistrate's Court to-day. Tho SubInspector said it was likely that a number of other similar charges would be preferred against the accused. On the application of Mr. J. Meltzer, the: Magistrate admitted Brown to bail;on a bond of, £250, with one surety of £200. Leslie Gordon Clarke, a seaman, aged 22, who was arrested with Sydney John Hodge, a carpenter, aged 35, at Petoue on the Thursday night by Defective M'Lennan, was remanded until -Wednesday on a charge of attempting to break and enter the. Self-Help Store at Petone. Mr. T. P. M'Carthy, who appeared for Clarke, asked for bail, and the Magistrate fixed the same terms as he had done in Brown's case. :
Hodge, who was jointly charged With Clarke and was represented by Mr. J. Meltzer, was also remanded until Wednesday, bail in his case beting fixed at £100, withjpne surety of -£XOO.- .-, , As far as was known, said "Sub-In-spector Ward, only one charge would be preferred against Hodge; but a number of others would probably be brought against Clarke.
