MR. H. TOWNSHEND
After a brief illness, the death occurred at his residence, Glenmore street, yesterday morning, of Mr.. Herbert Townshend who during the past thirty^years has been a member of the staff of Messrs. Thompson and Hills, Limited, manufacturers, of Auckland and Nelson, and who for the greater portion of this time has been manager of the Wellington branch of their business. As an active member of Vivian Street Baptist Church, the late Mr. Townshend obtained the distinction of being a local preacher whoso services were in constant request throughout a wide area, and there are few Presbyterian, Methodist, Congregational, or Baptist' churches in the city or suburbs in which he had not preached on many occasions. Mr. Townshend's genial and kindly nature endeared him to a large circle of commercial and social acquaintances, and his death is mourned by many friends. Mr. Townshend leaves a widow and one daughter, Mrs. Goo. Wallace, of Karori. The funeral, which will take place to-morrow at Karori, will be preceded by a service at the Vivian Street Baptist Church at 2 p.m. '
