BOOTS AND FOOD WANTED
The depot which is in charge of the Miramar branch, of the Red Cross Society has dealt, with a.largo number of eases-of distress, and it was report-, ed .at a meeting of the committee that there was a shortage of men's working clothes and boots and of children's footwear. A concert given -in the Methodist Hall netted a good sum for ( the. funds, The'thanks of the committee are exton ded^'to the performers and those who arranged the entertainment. Several other functions are being arranged to holp swell tho district funds.. At the Rugby match Miraniar-Ber-hampore a collection netted about £4, and the committee is indebted to these clubs and- the Wellington Bugby Union for playing the .-. match at the Polo Grounds. Satisfaction was expressed at the spirit, of enthusiasm and cooperation displayed in.the work, all the churches, clubs, and other local bodies being represented on the district committee. •:-....,- v- .. >-. - - - ■. • '.-.'. - An urgent appeal is made- for.donations, particularly men's and children's wear and foodstuffs.
