BURGLARY DENIED
LABOURER FOR TRIAL
Jiimes Baldwin, a labourer, aged 30, was charged in the Magistrate's Court to-day with breaking and entering a ladies' outfitters shop in Cambridge terrace and stealing clothes valued at £34 4s 3d, the property of Mrs. Elizabeth C. Le Surf. He pleaded not guilty, and was committed by Messrs. A. Longmore, J.P.,' and H. Price. J.P., to the Supreme Court for trial.
Detective J. Murray, in evidence, said that he recovered a suitcase, containing some of the stolen property from a board-ing-house-keeper on 31st May. The suitcase had been left in the-boarding-house-keeper's charge by the accused's sister. When shown the suitcase the accused denied all knowledge of it and also denied breaking into the shop. As a result of additional information, witness again questioned the accused on 10th June, and Baldwin then said he liad not broken into the shop, but had received some of the stolen property from a man named Charlie King.
