INVITATION TO. LONDON
(British Official Wireless.) (Keeeived Sth July, 11 a.m.)
EUGBY, 7th July.
The Prime Minister, answering a question, in the House of Commons today on the negotiations on the Hoover proposals for the suspension for. one year of debt and reparation payments, ■stated that the British Government was renewing its invitation to the French and United States Governments for a conference in London of .representatives of the Powers chiefly concerned. He recalled the approach made last week to France and the United States with a suggestion that such a conference be held to hasten agreement. . Both Governments had expressed a willingness to attend if the direct negotiations then in progress were not successful. These negotiations had now resulted in an agreement in principle between France and United States, but Mr. Mac Donald explained that they had left open several important points which would need to be discussed between the countries chiefly concerned, and accordingly the British Government was renewing its former invitation.
