LONDON PRODUCE PRICES.
The Department of Agriculture has received the following cablegram, dated 4th July, from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, London:— Tallow.—Market more active and fair demand at auction; 471 casks offered, 219 sold. Present quotations for spot are:—■ Mutton, fine 235, fair to good 20s to 225, dark to dull 17s to 18s; beef, sweet and/or mixed 22s to 245, fair to good 18s 6d to 21s, dark to dull 16s 6d to 17s 6d; mixed, fair to good 18s 6d to 20s 6d, dark to dull 10s 6d to 17s; gut, etc., 15s 6d to 17s 6d. Hemp.—Manila market dull. "X" grade for July/September shipment sold £17 10s.. Sisal: Market steady and values show slight improvement. No. 1 fair average quality for July/September shipment offered at £16 ss, and No. 2 at- £15 10s. New Zealand: Nominal unchanged at last values. No first hand sales reported. ..
'■' Peas.—English Maple: Present crop promises good yield. Choice held for 34s to 30s, Old-crop very scarce, inakiug 41s to 44s according to quality. Imported market quieter on limited consumption; 52s refused for "A" grade Tasmanian for shipment. Nominal value No. 1 New Zealand Partridge for July/August shipment 50s to 51s. Blues: No demand. Home-grown gi'een vegetable in good supply. Nominal value New Zealand ex store £8 to £8 10s. Fruit.—Apples:'Supplies very plentiful and trade very slow. Soft fruits dominate market. Port Nicholson and Port Hobart: Condition good. Stunner 10s jto 11s, Jonathan, Delicious, Statesman, Rome Beiity, and Dougherty 11s to 13s; Granny Smith 14s to 15s. Pdars: Winter Nelis (trays), 3s 6d to 4s 6d.
