Their Majesties were present at Wimbledon for the fourth round of the Wimbledon lawn tennis championships, when Helen Jacobs (America) defeated Mrs. L. A. Godfree, 6-2, 6-1. Betty Nuthall defeated Mrs. Harper (America), 6-4, 6-2; Miss Sriven defeated Miss John Ridley, 6-1, 6-4.

In the fourth round Borotra (France) beat Ar.tens, 6-4, 6-2, 6-3; Satoh beat H. G.<N. Lee, 8-6, 6-6, 6-2; Austin beat Collins, 6-3, 6-3, 6-4.

Tho last eight are J. Satoh, H. W. Austin, G. P. Hughes, J. Van Eyn, F. X. Shields, Jean Borotra, S. B. Wood, and F. J. Perry.

Sidney Wood, jun., wlio beat C. E. Malfroy at Wimbledon, was rated as fourth playor in the United States last year. Wood has had a most successful career. Last soason Wallis Myers, in announcing his "World's First Ten" placed a solid block of Americans from fourth to seventh place. They were J. H. Doeg, Frank X Shields, Wilmer Allison, and George M. Lott. But in the American official ranking list, headed by tho first throe names given here, Lott was seventh and John Van Kyn was ninth, with Wood above them. Last season, Wood beat Lott, Shields, and Allison at one tournament (Southampton, U.S.A.), and he also beat Mangin Sutler, Vines, find Coen more than once. At Forest Hills, Wood was beaten by the runner-up in the national singles, Frank X. Shields, 6-2, 6-3, 4-6, C-3. Shields was defeated by Doog in the final only at a score of 10-8, 1-0, 6-4, 16-14 in the final. In the doublos, Wood and Shields were beaten by Van Eyn and Allison, 3-6, 6-3, 11-9, 3-6, 6-3.

F. H. D. Wilde, who partnored Malfroy iv the doubles, was beaten in tho second round of the singles last year, H. Hopman defeating him 3-6, 6-0,.6-0, 4-6, 6-1. Hopnian was beaten easily by George M. Lott in the next round. That year, Wilde partnered F. J. Perry in the doubles, Perry being ranked as seventh player in Britain, above O. H. Kiugslcy, who was E. D. Andrews Js doubles partner. Wilde arid Perry wore beaten in tho doubles by Austin and OHffo, ono of Britain 'a best pairs.
