i KARORI V. V.M.C.A,

Karori were not seriously extended by V.M.C.A. and the final score, 4.-2, hardly represented the run of play. Early in the first spell Young Men nearly seored_ when a free hit was given against Karon 'cloSe in, but Moore dealt effectively with Ferguson's shot and .support was lacking for a further attempt. Karori then had the better of matters for a considerable time, and their first, goal was scored in a remarkable manner, Roberts, right1 wing, back-handing the ball which was caught by Jeromson's stick io the air and sent into the net. The second goal was not long in coming, and was scored by Roberts after a corner. Towards the end. of the spell Young Men made a better showing, and much of the play'was in Karori's territory, but one golden chance went begging when Mac Donald intercepted 'a ;freehit only a few feet from the circle, but lost the ball before he could get into position. The score was, unaltered 'at halttime. The second spell opened with a strong V.M.C.A; attack down the centre which nearly succeeded, but Hull cleared Veil out, ■ and the Karori forwards went away, Robb scoring' well. Karori 3, Y.H.C.A. 0. .Karori now began to slacken iip but received a setback when' the Y.M.C.A'. halves set the forwards ;in "motion;.'and Ferguson intercepted a clear : ance in the circle to score. Thereafter Young Men played stubbornly, but without much success, while the Karori forwards and backs harassed them almost without 'cessation. With a' few minutes to go Jeromson received the ball on the edge; of the Y.M.G.A. circle, steadied himself, and ■ shot a great'goal. I.M.C.A. appeared to have lost their dash, but were still to be"- reckoned with,. as was, shown when Ferguson secured the ball at the half-way line .and went through the Karori defence alone to score.. There was do-further incident. Mr. 11. Hatch was the referee. .
