WEDDINGS
On Whit Monday, 25th May, a quiet wedding of New Zealand interest took place at Eastbourne, writes "The Post's" London correspondent. Tho bride was Miss Barbara Millicent Gibson, younger daughter of Dr. and Mis. F. G. Gibson (Christehureh). Tho bridegroom was Mr. Arthur Stuart Bower, only son of Ma.1, and Mis. F. L. Bower, and grandson of the late Colonel and Mre. Newall, of Wellington. Tho ceremony was performed at the Parish Church by the Bev k F. P. Hughes, M.A. Miss Cibaou had arrived in England by the Tainui 'in tho middlo of May, anil had stayed with Mr. and Mis. Bower, who are on a visit to England from Paraguay, at Bramloy Giange, Guildford. The bridu, who wab given away by her uncle, Mr. Ivan Mower, wore a dress of beige lace, with straw hat to match. Mr. Richard Flower was best man. After the ceremony tho friends and relatives who woro present wont to' the residence of Mr. S. G. Newell (an uncle of tho biidcgroom), who iesid.es at Eastbourne. The young couple are now on a motor tour of England and tho Continont, the bride going away in a tailor-made costume of nigger brown . with' hat. to match. In July Mr. and Mrs. Bower will leavo for South America, and take up their residence at: Pindura Estancia, : Los Ingles>es, San Patrieio, Misiones, Paraguay. Mr. and Mrs. F. L. Bower will go out to Paraguay toward the end of tho year. Their son. arrived in England a few weeks ago to ineot his, bride.
What should, prove to .be a- very eiijoyable evening will foe'the "Wellingtoii Amateur Swimming Club's dance in the Mokoia Hall to-morrow evening. A first-class orchestra has been engaged and patrons can be, assured of a good time.. ..-'.•.
The sisters of St. Joseph's 'Orphanage, Upper Hutt, gratefully acknowledge a gift of-warm clothes, boots, and- shoes, provided for1 three children from the earthquake area by the Wai-nui-o-mata School branch of the Junior Bed Cross.
