The Committee of Award -Ioj? tho Commonwealth Fund Fellowship has made appointments to 27 Fellowships tenable by British graduates in American univorsities for 'tho two years, beginning September, 1931. These fellowships are offered by the Commonwealth Fund of New York, of -which Mr, Edward S. Harkness is president. One of the fellowships tenable by candidates from the British Dominions has been awarded-to Ernest Beaglehole,. M. A. (Victoria College University, New Zealand), and Ph.D., London School of Economics. The fellowship will take him to Yale, where he will study psychology. Mr. T. G. G. Beck, P.W.D., New Zealand, has been awarded a Fellowship to California, civil engineering.

Mr. John Bown (Wellington), who came to England- to try his fortune on the stage, has -had the good luck to be ongaged to play juvenile lead in Somciset Maugham's "The Breadwinner" for a tour of Great Britain and Ireland, commencing on 3rd August.

Mr. I' 1. I£. Covontiy, the 'Wellington artist, is doing excellent travel poster work for one of the big shipping lines. The posters, which arc on view in prominent public centres, are attiacting much attention.

Miss Kctta Mackenzie (younger daughter of Professor Mackenzie, of Wellington) travelled via Suez, and now that she has reached England she will visit lelatives before going to Paris to sco 'her brother who is doing post-giactuate work at Ihu Sorboune. .From Paris, sh« will go to Nice, where she lias another brother. Mi&s Mackenzie, who has been a sister in the General Hospital at Wellington, hopes to' gain further experience in nursing before she goes back to tho Dominion.

Mrs. A. G-. Barnctt (wife of the secictary of the Wellington Harbour Boaid) will perform the launching ceremony of tho new huge floating dock for the-, Wellington Harbour Board which will be- launched from the shipping yards of Messrs. Swan, Hunter, and Wigham Richardson, at Wallsend-on-Tync, at tho end of this month. Mis, Barnett will name it the "Jubilee" dock in commemoration ofthe jubilee of the Wellington Harbour Boai d.
