BRITISH MEAT IMPORTS
The New Zealand Meat Producers Board is advised by cable from its London office that the shipments from Australia and South America to the United' Kingdom during-the month of May, in carcasses as to mutton and lamb, and" quarters as to beef, were'as follows:—Australia, mutton, 29,839, lamb 79,569. beef 50,115; South America, mutton 111,172, lamb 198,145, beef (frozen) 4419, (chilled) 453,469. Included in the South American figures are 61,731 carcasses of lamb and' 51,860 carcasses of mutton shipped from Patagonia. A further quantity of 1900 tons of Patagdman lamb and mutton was shipped, but the respective number of carcasses was not available. The shipments from New Zealand to the United Kingdom for the same period were as follows:—New. Zealand mutton 170,272, lamb 996,604, beef 18,174. The shipments from South America to the Continent of Europe during the same period were.as follows:—Mutton 320 tons, frozen beef 4210 tons.
