GOLF CHAMPIONSHIP

MISS WILSON'S TRIUMPH

MASTERY IN APPROACHES

LONDON, 13th June. In an exciting finish to the women's open golf championship yesterday Miss Enid' AVilson beat Miss Wanda Morgan 7up and 6to play. Both finalists, who arc English girJs, are 21 years of age.

There was a real thrill in the final match, and in. tho second round Miss Wilson, who is a six-footer, was always calm and collected. She led by only one hole in Lhe morning round. In the afternoon, however, sho played an inspired game, and no woman living except Mis.s Joyce Wethered could havo buttled against her. She played twelve holes- in one under fours, and Miss Morgan never won one. Miss Wilson showed uncanny mastery in her approaches, finishing at a holeable length from every distance. She only once- took threo putts. Miss Morgan nevertheless fought bravely.' Sho possesses such perfect style that critics agree sho must oventually become tho champion. Miss Wilson admits that, like Bobby Jones, she always does her best when thinking only of par • for every hole and ignoring her opponent's performances entirely. Miss Wilson has twice won tho English women's championship. The foreign competitors were eliminated in the early rounds. ■J'iio International cablo nevr3 anijearlnj: In this issue is published liy arninsciuent- with the Australian PrcM Association and the "&m," "fleialii," News Sesvibe, lAtntlcii
