ASSOCIATE OF HATRY
SENTENCED IN ITALY
INTENTION TO APPEAL
MILAN, 13 th Juno. After a week's trial on. charges of fraud, conspiracy, and. forgery, John, GiaMini, associate of Clarence .Hatry, in. pleading alleged that tho Hatry group swindled him to the extent of £60,000. A deposition by Hatry stated that Gialdini was conversant with all the affairs of the group, and added: "Wo have no animus against him. I should hate to think that ho was going to share my fate." Gialdini was sentenced to a year's imprisonment, but the many mouths he has already spent in gaol will be deducted from the sentence. He was ordered to pay an unspecified amount of damages to Sir Gilbert Garnsey, representing the Hatry companies' estate which was sequestrated at the time of the arrest. Gialdini intends to appeal. ; In March of last year Gialdini, who was an associate of Hatry, the exfinancier, who is now serving a long torm of imprisonment for sensational company swindles in England, was.arrested while leaving his hotel and taken to the St. Victor Prison. He was brought before an examining Magistrate, who decided ou evidence from England that he could be prosecuted.
