THE NEW TRAFFIC SIGNALS
An alteration in the angles of tho traffic light signals at the Taranaki strcct-Courtonay place intersection has to a considerable extent removed the likelihood of confusion in tho minds of drivers wishing to make right-hand turns. As first erected, the east-west signals were'not visible to drivers in machines on the north-south roadway, or vice versa, but the rearrangement gives sufficient visibility •to remove most of the confusion. , The arrangement is not ideal, but no city has managed to get round this right-hand turn complication satisfactorily. It is understood that when the CubaManners street intersection is placed under lights control it will be necessary to install seven or eight sets of reds and greens and yellows in order that the right turn'may bo indicated. The problems which have to be met at each intersection —and they are anything but easy of solution—suggest that the co-ordination of the several installations, to minimise delay to traffic bound straight through the city, is going to be a-tricky business.
