NO MEANS OF SUPPORT
"This man ' seems to; be losing grip of . himself," said./ Senior-Sergeant Edwards, in the Magistrate's ; Court today, before Mr. E. Page, S.M., when Robert Down, a labourer, aged' 58, appeared on a charge lof being, an idle and disorderly, person in that he had insufficient lawful means of support.
Senior-Sergeant Edwards said that a' message was received from Eastbourne' yesterday ,fo the effect that a man was seen wandering in the direction of the Ororigorongos. A constable set out after the accused, and found him in a very depressed state: of mind. Ho said he wished to do away with himself. • • ' ■
On the application' of the seniorsergeant, Down was remanded for one week to see what provision could be made for placing him in a home. '
