NEXT AUCKLAND MEETING

(Special to "The Evening Post.") AUCKLAND, This Day. ■ A considerable decrease in the totalisator investments is shown for the first three meetings held by the Auckland Racing Club this season. The total amount of betting at Ellerslie for the Spring, Summer, and Autumn Meetings was £464,377, compared with. £610,361 10s for the three corresponding meetings during. 1929-30, a decrease of £151,984 10s. Investments for the first three meetings at Ellerslie in 1928-29 were £561,892. The turnover at the Autumn Meeting for tlie current racing season, which concluded on Monday, showed a total decrease of £51,180 from the corresponding two days' racing of 1930. This autumn the receipts amounted to £102,317, as against £153,497 last Easter. • At. this season's Spring Meeting the total receipts at Ellerslie amounted to £79,502, a decrease of £30,926 10s from the corresponding meeting of the previous year. 'Racegoers invested £282,55S on the' machine at Ellerslie over last Christmas and New Year, and this represents a decrease of £69,878, compared with the previous corresponding fixture. ' Totals '. 464,377 ■'■ 561,892 Following upon the continual decrease in totalisator investments and consequently j in revenue, the committee of the Aiickland i Racing' Club has decided to reduce the stakes for the winter meeting, to be held on 3rd, 6th. and Bth June, by £2600— from £13,700 to £11,505. Each of the 21 races on the programme shares in the reduction. The biggest cut has been made in the stake for the Great Northern Steeplechase, which has been reduced by £500, from £2000 to £1500. The prize-money for the Great Northern Hurdles comes down by £350, from £1750 to £1400, and that for the Cornwall Handicap by £250, from £1000 to £750. Of the remaining 18 races, one, the Winter Steeplechase, has been reduced by £150, eleven by £100 each, and. six by . £50 each. ; . . ..-.-•
