BEST OF HER SEX

CLAIM FOR LADY PAM

Lady Pam, winner of two of the season's three-year-old classics, the New Zealand St. Leger Stakes and the , Great Northern Oaks, and winner also of the Hawkes Bay Guineas, is proving to be a more than profitable jjroposition. for her breeder-owner, the AA rellington sportsman, Mr. AY. E. Kemball. Last season she was a good class two-year-old, earning £900 for her four firsts and four minor placings, and so far this season she has added a further sum of £2955 to her tally, making her winnings to date £3855. She is ideally bred to go over a distance, for, besides reaping the benefit of the St. Simon —Bend Or cross that has assisted in making her sire (Limond) so successful at the stud in the Doiiiiniou, she has another strong line of Bend Or through her dam, Princess Pat, a granddaughter of BendjOr's great grandson, Martian. She also incorporates the famous St. SimonMusket cross in her pedigree. Her main linos are:— Sire: Limond, by Desmond (son of St. Simou and grandson of Gaiopin) from Linda!, by Kondal (son of Bond Or) from Sunrise, by Springfield (son of St. Albans). No. 1 family. Dam: Princess Tat, by All Black (son of Gallinule and grandson of Isonomy) from Martian Princess, by Martian (son of Martagon and grandson of Bond Or) from Two Step, by Stepniak (son of Nordenfoll and grandson of Musket). No. 3 family. Lady Pam now appears to have proved ' herself easily the best three-year-old of her sex in. the Dominion this season, and it is probable that' she is not far beneath the calibre of her principal male rivals, Karapoti and Cylinder. The Trentham Gold Cup demonstrated that Ivurapoti was her superior, and a line through Praise, who finished behind Cylinder in the New Zealand Derby and then beat her in the New Zealand Oaks, shows that she is not quite on a plane with Cylinder. Her superiority over Praise may be questioned by some, but it is the general opinion that she was very unlucky to lose the New_ Zealand Oaks, being beaten by the tactics she was - practically compelled to adopt in that race. She has never given her trainer, G. Jones, under whose care she has been since the death of the late T. J. Daly, a moment of anxiety on the score of unsoundness, and all indications are . that she will be one of the foremost performers in the Dominion.next season.
