SEVEN DEBUTANTES
BALL IN CHRISTCHURCH
Seven well-known Christchurch ladies —Mesdames J. F. Buchanan, W. Irving Carney, Arthur Cooper, Edwin Hay, Cecil Ollivier, John Stevenson,, and H. S. E. Turner —wore hostesses on Tuesday evening at a delightful dance given in honour of their debutante daughters, ■whom they introduced to -their friends under ve:ry pleasant circumstances, states the ChriEtchurch "Press." The dance was held .at the Winter Garden, ■irhere the lounge was beautifully, deeo-
rated with roses and bowls of mixed flowers. Music was supplied by the Bailey-Marston Orchestra. Tho debutantes were Misses Margery Turner, Janet Stevenson, Lois Ollivier, Lesley Hay, Margaret Cooper, Patricia Carney, aud Helen Buchanan. Miss Margery Turner wore a silver tissue frock plainly cut, the waist defined with a narrow belt tied at tho back. _ Her uncommon posy was of blue delphinium and mauvo violas. Miss Janet Stevenson wore an ivory satin frock, with tight-fitting hip yoko and fully flared skirt. She carried a posy of red flowers. Miss Lois Ollivier's frock of ivory satin was made with straight panels back and front, widely flaring at the hem, and a shaped flounce at each side. She woro a coral necklace to match her posy of shaded pink carnations tied with pink tulip. Miss Lesley Hay wore a silver laco frock fitted to the knees, with a full skirt of ivory tulJe. She carried a posy of shaded pink flowers. Miss Margaret Cooper woro a silver lame frock made with flounces arranged in Vandykes and finished with a bow at the back. Her posy was of vivid scarlet flowers. Miss _ Helen Buchanan wore a parchment satin frock mado with deep folds forming the hipyoke, and long, fully-flared skirt. Her posy was of pink and red flowers. Miss Patricia Carney's frock was of blush pink georgette with narrow belt clasped with a diamante buckle. She carried a sheaf of Easter lilies;
